A middle-aged writer tries to write a short story for a literary competition. Going through the creative process, he talks to his family members, friends, and acquaintances.

After his wife’s funeral, an old man talks his daughter into driving him to visit an old friend he hasn’t seen in a long time. Hiding the reason for the visit, he uses the trip to try and reconcile with his daughter. In the end, the old man faces his forgotten friend.

May Day is particularly hard for Bruno and Iva: not only do they both have to work, but their bicycle – their only means of transport – has been stolen.
